Scholarship Winner Announced
The Mid-West Fastener Association is the oldest fastener association in the United States, and is celebrating its’ 65th anniversary in 2011. The MWFA has given out 375 scholarships totaling over $434,000 to members, spouses, and their children over the past 27 years. MWFA is headquartered in Lake Zurich, IL.; its’ purpose is to serve and promote the fastener industry and the ever changing needs of its’ membership. Specifically, the MWFA is dedicated to representing all segments of the industry (manufacturers, distributors, importers, and suppliers to the industry). Elgin Fastener Group has been a member of MWFA since February, 2010.

Elgin Fastener Group was recently notified that Crystal Kessen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kessen, has been chosen as the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship given by the Mid-West Fastener Association. Crystal is a sophomore at God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, OH., pursuing her B.A. in music education as a violin major and a piano minor. She began taking piano lessons in first grade and violin instruction at the age of eleven. Crystal plans to earn her Masters degree in violin education. In addition to her daily class and practice routines, Crystal also plays in the school orchestra, maintains a regular work schedule at the school, and works the occasional weekend at home with her family. Her father, James Kessen, is a twenty-year employee of EFG’s Ohio Rod Products division. Crystal and her dad are shown in the accompanying photo.
